Trends in bathroom remodeling

Bathroom remodeling is necessary in every home we redesign. At Vesta we LOVE cape cod houses that can be transformed into Mid-Century Modern homes for first time home buyers. These homes are perfect for individuals, couples, and young families. We have looked at hundreds of bathroom design options for the modern lifestyle. Yet, we are always bothered by the idea of demo-ing 1950s pastel bathroom tile just because styles have changed. My goodness – it is almost always in excellent shape. Those craftsmen knew what they were doing! Often we find that grout lines are in pristine condition, and tiles look brand new. In fact, we have been debating what to do with a current property that has pale pink tile all over the bathroom. It is in perfect condition.
Imagine my delight when I found this wonderful article from HGTV! Pam gives a great rationale for keeping the tile and designing for it, rather than replacing it. The pictures are beautiful! She confirms what we knew all along – there are MANY reasons to save the tile! Today’s designers are developing color palates that will compliment that ’50s style while adding fresh new design features. The modern retro feel is perfect for today’s home buyers!
